Summer camp opportunity for adults! Be a part of the 2008 summer resident camp staff team. We are looking for adults who believe in Girl Scouting and want to make the camp program the best Girl Scout program it can be. Join in the fun and friendship and get training to help make the camp experience memorable for girls ages 7–17. Sessionals volunteer 4-7 days during a summer resident camp session, which can be scheduled at the same time their child attends camp. In exchange for your work we will help place your daughter in camp and subsidize her camp fee. Don’t miss out on the magic of Scherman this summer! Please apply by June 1st. If you apply by March 1st we will help make sure your daughter is placed in a camp session of your choice. Please call for an application and mark your calendar with the mandatory training weekend June 13-15, 2008. Sessional children (5 & up) are invited to attend the training weekend with their Mom. Kid’s pay $25 to participate in a traditional staffed core camp. This opportunity is for adults, 18 years or older and their daughters.

Remember how excited you were heading off to summer camp as a child? Now you can have fun helping a new generation of excited girls make friends on the bus trip to and from our resident Girl Scout camp in the San Jacinto Mountains. As a volunteer chaperone, you will ride with the girls on the bus, help keep order and look out for their safety – and lunch will be provided. Come join us in the adventure! 

TIME COMMITMENT:      Your choice of dates from late June – mid August, 6-7 hours, beginning at 8 a.m.

As a Career Representative, you will be sharing your experiences in an informal interview type setting with girls as they rotate between topics. Girls enjoy “hands-on” learning, so we encourage presenters to bring visual aids that will help describe their career. Date: Saturday TBA 9a.m.-4p.m.

How excited are you about your college career? What did you do to reach your dream?
Come and share your experiences with girls during an inspiring event called From Dreams to Reality.

As a College Panel Participant, you will be sharing your experiences in an informal interview type setting with the girls as they rotate between topics. Your panel will have 2-3 other college students. Date: Saturday TBA 9a.m.-4p.m.

Do you love to work with girls? Do you enjoy seeing their faces when they discover something invaluable? Then we want you as a Reality Store Activity Assistant.

From Dreams to Reality is a career exploration day for girls in 6th-9th grades. As a Reality Store Activity Assistant you will guide 3-4 girls through the “store” to help them make choices about how they spend their money based on their chosen career and monthly salary. Girls will receive a checkbook to keep track of monthly expenses and their budget. On-site training with be offered.
Date: Saturday TBA 9a.m.-4p.m.

Are you a Teacher at heart? Bi-lingual / Bi-cultural (Spanish / English)? Join the fun as a Volunteer Trainer for our Spanish speaking Girl Scout Troop Leaders!!

Join the fun as a Volunteer Trainer for our Spanish speaking Girl Scout Troop Leaders! One class per month with lots of flexibility to fit your schedule. Plus, help us adapt and translate our various training modules to ensure our Girl Scout program can be shared with our culturally diverse membership. Come cultivate, mentor and train current and future Spanish speaking volunteers so they can keep building girls of courage, confidence and character!

It's fun to spend time with girls. They laugh and learn and their energy is contagious. Share your experience with a group of girls. Become a Girl Scout Leader/Advisor.

 

You and a friend could sign up together as Co-Leaders for a group of girls – you select the level, from kindergarten through high school. Or you could be an Assistant Leader/Advisor to someone who has already stepped forward to lead. Help our girls as they discover their world, connect with their community and take action to make the world a better place. It will put a smile on your face! TIME COMMITMENT: Times and places of group meetings vary. Some meet twice a month while others meet weekly or monthly. Some meet after school while others meet in the evening or on weekends. Most meetings are 1-1½ hours long.

What's your specialty? Cooking? Jewelry-Making? Computer Graphics? Pet Care? Carpentry? You name it, we can probably use it.

 

The Girl Scout Council of Orange County is building a database of people with special talents who would be willing to share those talents with our Girl Scouts. The idea is that we will match your talents with Girl Scout troops that are working on projects in your specialty. You can tell us what parts of the county you are willing to visit and what times you are available. When we call with a project, you will be able to say "yes" or "no," depending on your schedule. TIME COMMITMENT: Your choice!

We are looking for energetic, passionate people who want to share their love of the outdoors with Girl Scout Leaders. If you are an engaging, confident person who has outdoor/camping experience and enjoys sharing your knowledge with others, this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you. You will work with a team of experienced trainers as you learn the course material and perfect your presentation skills. You do not have to be a professional trainer, but experience conducting workshops, leading groups or teaching skills would be helpful.

 

Our trainings usually take place on two nights for three hours each or occasionally on a Saturday for six hours, and you will be asked to commit to two trainings a year. The trainings take place at various times and places throughout the year.

 

TIME COMMITMENT: Teach 2 six-hour classes per year; attend night meetings up to six times a year; attend a Train-the-Trainer course one time for 2 Saturdays (TBA) and course prep time.
